A stupid seal most places want over $50 for, the guy at the window gave to me for free.
Which means my cover doohickey can go in and look cool.
I only burned myself on the coolant hose to the left of it thrice -_-

Speaking of burning things, don’t stick your hand (and arm) down by the exhaust manifold unless you really have to.
I really had to.

I was looking for a new manual shift knob for my old XJ Cherokee, and found a really nice one that I got for free because I “could have just pocketed it and walked out”.

The guy genuinely looked surprised I brought it up to the window and wanted to pay for it.

Could you do me a favour and take a photo from the other side? Think I have some sort of cover missing, wanna see if you have it!

Ya, i think the cover is supposed to in the center-ish near the throttle.

Totally agree. I was out at a swap meet today and one vendor wanted $45 for the torque converter cover I need. I’m sure I can grab one out of a yard for $5-$10. I did, however, pony up for some retrofit 3-point seat belts. Some things you just can’t skimp on.
